The De Profectione Ludovici VII In Orientem is a narrative written by Odo of Deuil.

The creator of De Profectione Ludovici VII In Orientem was a French monk who took part in the 2nd Crusade serving as a chaplain on Louis VII expedition in 1147 AD. The narrative is about the progress of the crusade from France to Antioch. Odo tells of the failure of the crusade due to Human actions rather then the will of god. His aim while writing was to not only glorify Louis VII but to also tell of the failures to prevent them from happening in furture crusades.

Odo blamed the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) for the downfall of the crusade, because of his ideological differences between the crusaders and the Greeks.
